Happy 2024 Everyone!!!!

Happy New Year, Sorors, Sistergreeks, Friends, and Aspiring members!

I pray you all had a wonderful holiday season. I know I did! I went home for the holidays to Chi-Town and spend time with my family. I can't believe it's Rush season again. I wanted to wish you all the best during this stressful time.

Don't stress or fret (like that's gonna happen, duh)...But in all seriousness, if you have read my previous posts, you already have the tools to guide you for Rush. Come dressed to impress, do your research, and hopefully, by now, you have made a personal connection with a few chapter members you hope to join. Remember, depending on the organization you are trying to join, some require a majority vote, so even if you have the highest GPA, the bomb community service, or a stellar recommendation, you must convince more than half the chapter to VOTE for you! And if you don't get it this time, you can always try again.

Wishing you all the best in 2024

    1. If this is for DST, if you go to the application section on their website, the only chapters listed under “organization” are the chapters approved for intake this year.

    2. @8:23am on Jan 15th: Are you referring to the their actual application portal? I can see all chapters when I type into organization, even the chapters that has a Spring 23 line.

    3. @10:19pm - go to the website > “Membership Center” > “Become a Member”. Press “Create an Account”. In the form, look for “Organization”. Type the first 3 letters of the chapter name. If it shows up in the list, they are approved for intake this year. I attended Rush last weekend and they informed us about this.

  7. Happy New Year! I attended Rush yesterday for my org of choice. Deadline is January 24. This is my second time trying. Last time, I messed up something on my application. That was 4 years ago now. Hopefully, this time is different and I can at least make it to the interview! Wishing everyone the best!

    1. The ones I've seen this year have been around 6 days but it may vary by org.

    2. Every org and every chapter is different. My chapter of interest posted their flyer 2 weeks before Rush. I attended Rush 4 years ago for a different chapter and the flyer was posted the day of.

    3. It seems like more chapters are posting on social media, which is great.

  9. The chapter I’m interested in is having a line this semester and I thought I had all my ducks in a row however, I didn’t know that one of my letter of recommendations had to be written by a member of the organization. I am a first generation student and didn’t grow up around greek people therefore I don’t know any members of the organization to write my letter.

    1. Google people you work with, go to church with, etc. You might know a member but don't know they are a member. Good luck.

  10. I was in that position when I got to college. Thankfully, one of the professors at my university was/is a member. I met her through a research assistant program my school had and she wrote my letter when I applied.

Research the professors at your school and see if any are in the org you're pursuing. Do the same with the leaders/volunteers with whom you do community service. They're out there. Good luck!
