It's that time again.....
You attended rush, received all the information that you need to apply for membership, received an application, and you can't believe the time has finally come. The time has come for you to fill out your application for membership in your desired sorority or fraternity. You're anxious, nervous and excited at the same time. The BEST advice that I can give you at this time? Double, Triple, Quadruple check your work. Make sure all your "I's" are dotted and your "T's" are crossed. The last thing you don't want is for you to be disqualified over a small error on your part. Make sure you have enough time to submit your application. If the organization requires you to mail it in, I would suggest spending a little extra $$ by using FedEx or UPS, with tracking information. That would at least give you confidence that the organization received your application.
Good luck to all of you, and once your application is off, the HARDEST part is....the waiting. You wait, and you wait, and you wait, and you wait. It was HARD for me, so I get it. TRUST ME! But as I said in previous posts, make yourself busy during this time. I know for me, I jumped every single time my phone rang, because I didn't know when or IF for that matter they were going to call. And the waiting can be a LONG TIME. This can depend on if the org has a set schedule, the number of applicants that submitted an application, screening each app. etc. As for me, right when I was about to give up and came to the realization that wasn't going to receive a phone call, they finally did call at 1:35 am. I remember how HARD it was for me to sleep that night because I was excited, yet nervous about my upcoming interview. I remember getting out of my dorm room bed, turning on my light, and laying out multiple outfits for my interview. I was too excited and nervous to go back to sleep. I was a zombie going to my 8 o'clock class that next morning, but I was cheesing like no other. I GOT A PHONE CALL which meant I was one step closer to my goal. Now all I needed to do next was NAIL the interview.
Ciao for Now,
V

The deadline for my packet is on 1/26; however, mine was delivered on 1/18 (I delivered it priority USPS with a tracking). Even though it has been a couple of days, the suspense is killing me. So many questions are going in my mind...Will I receive a call for an interview or a letter of rejection before the deadline? Have they checked my packet?
ReplyDeleteI guess my question is, do they send out responses after the deadline or as they get the packets in?
Depending on the organization, they have to wait until all packets are in before they can start the review process. So you will not hear anything until after the packet deadline date. Best of luck to you.
DeleteThank you!!
DeleteI have the same deadline for a rush that was 1/5. Good luck. I am super anxious as well!!
DeleteHow exciting! Maybe we were at the same Rush. Would you mind to contact me?
Deleteif you are in MD we probably were! Best way to contact?
DeleteI'm in AL, but it would be great to keep in touch and stay updated on our progress!
DeleteI was at the 1/05 rush too with apps due 1/26.
Delete^^ In AL?
Delete No in MD
DeleteNo in MD
DeleteI attended rush on 1/5, with a due date of 1/26. The suspense is making me nervous. This is my fourth try and I'm on pins and needles. The cap for the grad chapter I'm applying to is 41 and there was over 200 women at rush.
DeleteJust learned of rush today. I am so excited! This will be my 4th time applying. Twice in college and this is my 2nd time applying to grad chapter. Yes, it is THAT competitive out here. I have worked diligently, and I am truly praying that this is finally my time.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you. I hope you get into the frat/sorority of your dreams.
DeleteGood luck! Keep us updated on your journey.
DeleteI'm the original poster 1/23, at 8:36. Just checking in with an update. Application and transcripts submitted and checked 100 times, lol. I submitted well before the due date of 2/19, which feels like that makes the wait feel even longer. I attended rush in the Houston area in the suburbs. No call or letter yet. I really don't want that letter though...
DeleteHello, Feb26 @9:50! I attended the Rush held at the church in the city. Our due date was the same. Waiting (un)patiently, like you! Good luck to you!

ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post. I was thinking if I should pay extra and track my package, and this post just gave me confirmation that I should. This is my FIFTH time applying (3 times in college, 2 in Alumnae). I hope for me 5th time is a charm. Good luck to all of you out there.
ReplyDeleteI applaud you for not giving up on trying to join the organization of your dreams. Take your time in completing your packet. Have a member of the organization that you are friends with look over your information to make sure your packet is right and tight!! Best of luck to you.
DeleteThank you! Are you applying as well or are you already a member of a Divine 9 Org?
DeleteI am a member of D9 - Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
DeleteIs it frowned upon to wear a brown or black pantsuit to a rush? I’m not sure if it is okay to not wear a skirt, and if the brown would be acceptable. Please help! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat's fine. You want to stay neutral in your color choice. Business attire
DeleteI, too, attended a RUSH earlier this month in Georgia. It is my first time ever applying and there were at least 600-700 persons there. After reading the comments above, it appears extremely competitive. I pray that I'm selected, but if I'm not it simply means it wasn't either the right decision or the timing is off. Good luck to everyone!!! And so the wait has officially began since 38 minutes ago when the clock struck 1/26/2019.
ReplyDeleteHi, does anyone know whether interviews/final selection has been made for the Alumnae Rush held on December 2, 2018 in North Carolina?
ReplyDeleteI believe that I also attended the same rush on 1/5 in Georgia. And, I am considerably nervous. Yes, the countdown has begun. I pray to God that I make it, this has truly been a desire for a very long time! Good luck to you as well!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It has also been a desire of mine for an extremely long time. I, unlike some of the ladies, have not attended any events. Over the years, I subconsciously gave up. With that being said, I am a huge advocate of community service. Just pray, be transparent, and genuine and that should bode well for us. Please post an update if you get a call for an interview, and I will do the same giving us an idea of their timing. I would assume it might take quite some time given the heavy influx of applications.
DeleteIt was absolutely meant for me to see this, thank you for posting it. 1/27 made out deadline and I keep staring at my phone, making sure it’s charged up. And I get a lot of stupid spam calls so when I get a call from a number I haven’t seen before, I freak out! So that all makes it even worse, haha! Thanks for this post! Gotta keep busy for sure.
ReplyDeleteYes, I certainly will keep you all posted.
DeleteThanks for posting! I am keeping busy as well and making sure my phone is charged up! I ahd an application deadline of 1/27 as well, patiently waiting :)
DeleteYour posts have been so motivational and helpful for me! I am also from Chicago, aspiring to be a member of DST. I am praying and waiting for my phone call for my interview currently.

ReplyDeleteIt's been a week since application packets were due (1/26/19) and this wait is nerve wracking!! LOL!! My phone rings and I jump. lol! Positive thoughts for a phone call for an interview soon. 🤞🏾🙏🏾
ReplyDeleteSame here....my stomach is in KNOTS -_-
DeleteHave you received any news?
DeleteNo I haven't.
DeleteHave you heard any news?
DeleteI know! I’m walking around making sure I have a signal at all times!
ReplyDeleteI'm submitting my application tomorrow, the due date is 2.10. I have double and triple checked it. Then the waiting begins. Praying I get an interview.
ReplyDeleteI am proud to say that I am now a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated via a grad chapter (Fall 2018). I put in the work! Thank you for this wonderful blog, as it provided me with pertinent info that I absolutely used.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity, are celebrities treated any differently than others when trying to be considered for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.? I aware of two celebrities were present at the same Rush I attended.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the date of your rush?
Delete1/5
DeleteWas this in MD?
DeleteI attended Rush recently. Packets aren't due until the 19th. I have submitted my packet after quadruple checking. I know I'll be waiting for a while. I'm just so extremely anxious. Trying to wait patiently!
ReplyDeleteI attended Rush with the same due date. Are you in the Houston area?
DeleteI attended rush in the Houston area...submitted everything well before the due date. not expecting to hear anything right now though...
DeleteHello, everyone! I attended a Rush in the Houston area (1/27) with the same due date for Apps (2/19). I am so nervous, and excited at the same time. The large number of ladies that were in attendance (over 1,000) leads me to believe that it may take some time to go through all of the packets that may have been received. Wishing all the best to you all!
DeleteHello, Ladies! I also attended a 1/27 Rush in the Houston area with an App due date of 2/19. With over 1,000 ladies in attendance, I'm sure it may take a bit of time for us to hear anything. Wishing you all the best! - Hopeful in Houston
DeleteI 10000000% agree with all of this! Waiting is the HARDEST, most stressful part of it all. I was notified of my interview exactly 1 week after applications were due, then 5 days after interviews (this past Tuesday) I received the call offering me membership into DST. Best believe I boohoo cried—I've wanted this for years! I'm over the moon and so excited to start this journey in the upcoming weeks! Best of luck to all of you!
ReplyDeleteWhat advice can you give in regards to the interview to help prepare future applicants. I am not asking for questions but what made you stand out more than the other women?
DeleteCongratulations
DeleteOh wow!! Congratulations on being offered membership in to DST!!
DeleteCongratulations!! Are you located in Maryland?
DeleteOh my goodness, thank you for returning to this post and informing us of your great news!! Woo-hoo!! Congrats to you as you are 1 step closer to becoming a member!! Any pointers to share...
DeleteCongratulations!!! How many women were at the rush you attended? I'm just wondering since the turnaround time was so quick for interviews and membership calls.
Delete When was your Rush and application due?
ReplyDeleteThis wait is the worst. I'm so anxious and nervous. The Rush was on 1/6 and there was no lie, almost 2,000 interested women present. I can't imagine all of the work it takes to review all of those application packets, but to know that I'm competing against so many women is heartbreaking and nerve wracking. The packets were due on 1/28 and I'm still waiting on an interview call (if I get one). I've wanted this for so many years and I'm ready for some closure. Any advice or words of encouraged are definitely welcome. Good luck everyone on your journey!
ReplyDeleteThe rush I attended was the same day 1/6 and same amount of interests. I won't be surprised if it's the same rush. Still waiting for interview call or letter as well. Very nervous!
DeleteI think we were all at the same rush. Same date, and the same number of attendees at the rush. I haven't heard anything as of yet, but here's to hoping. I am extremely nervous.
DeleteIf your Rush was in MD, then it's definitely a possibility. Good Luck Ladies! It's so comforting to know that I'm not the only one feeling this way. I pray all our dreams come true.
DeleteOh! Keep us posted!
Delete
DeleteHave you received any news yet?
DeleteAny updates from any of you ladies?? I am still waiting, and waiting and waiting!
DeleteI am happy to report that I was extended membership and I am beyond thrilled. When I came across this blog I read post, every reply, EVERYTHING! The post that stung the most was the post about not making it. That was me a few years ago. I was angry, and jealous of the folks who did make it. I took the advice and went to the new membership program, and supported and congratulated the new members of the org of my choice. I also decided to re-think my strategy and attended every single event that the chapter offered, and before I knew it, I was on a first name basis with most of them included those who went out for membership when I did. When I found out there was a rush, I was beside myself. I was hopeful that the hard work I put into would pay off and it did. The waiting was NO JOKE, but well worth it. To those who are still waiting, just hold on. Good luck to you and Godspeed.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! If you don't mind me asking, when was your Rush?
DeleteCongrats! I am excitied for you. If you do not mind can you tell us how long the wait was from the packet deadline, to the interview call, to the offer of membership call. I am still waiting so I just wanted to get an idea about your timeframe. Again Congrats.
DeleteFor MD, cap 66? Interviews started last Tuesday. Not sure when they’ll end. A few friends went Thursday and friday. I guess we are waiting for calls or to be put out our misery.
DeleteI’m gonna lose it soon. I’ve been keeping busy even went on a vacation to keep my mind off of this but, it’s been 2 1/2 weeks since applications were due... at this point I’ve pretty much given up receiving an interview! Anyone else here waiting in Maryland from a 1/5 rush? Their cap is sixty something and at this point I’m assuming they’ve interviewed and made calls.... please someone put me out of my misery. I thought the wait was long for making it but this long for an interview?
ReplyDeleteWell, it all depends, roughly how many people were at your rush?
DeleteI think we were at the same one. Roughly 400-500 present. Did you hear something @9:24pm? 66 cap line
DeleteOkay with it being around 400-500 people there, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I am a member of a BGLO, and it takes a while to go through each and every single application to make sure every "i" is dotted and T is crossed to make sure that each person is eligible for an interview. You might not hear anything for about another week or two. Real Talk!
DeleteOh wow! I had no idea it would take almost a month. Guess I’m gonna go on a vacation too lol. This is messing with my nerves
DeleteYes roughly 400, not more than that. It seems that I am not the only one waiting... at least I can keep a little hope my number will be called... literally. I thought the cap was 62 but 66 sounds correct. There were a lot of girls there but not as many as the last time a few years ago.
DeleteHave any of you heard anything yet? Phone Call? Letter?
DeleteI was there. The cap is 66.
ReplyDeleteHow many people were there?
DeleteAround 200 ladies
Delete60ish sounds like the one I was at application due 1/26? I’m waiting and leaving town Friday for work. I am praying they haven’t chosen their 66 already I would be crushed. You’re right the wait is long and my nerves are bad more so of them calling while I’m away.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the same one I attended in MD. I'm also still waiting and praying for a call for an interview.
DeleteDid anyone attend a Rush in Illinois? Application was due by 2/1. I haven't heard anything and I am just curious.
ReplyDeleteI did. Rush 1/11, application due 2/1. My interview was 2/24 and now I am waiting again. I know rejection letters have also gone out. Good luck to you!
DeleteI attended a RUSH on 1/5 and apps due 1/26. Rumor is they’ve started calls for interviews. Any Of you happen to hear this news? I see people posted above about not hearing anything. I’m super confused and nervous now. This is my second try with this same third time. Second with this chapter — Waiting in MD.
ReplyDeleteI think we were at the same RUSH. I haven't heard anything about them actually starting calls.
DeleteI attended a rush in Georgia on 1/5 with a due date of 1/26 and have not heard anything! Several of my friends have been called to interview. I am really worried.
ReplyDelete@Poster 2/15 at 8:01pm
DeleteWere your friends recently called for an interview? A few days? A week or more ago? -Patiently Waiting in Ga
Do you mind indicating the Cap for GA? I believe there were a few Georgia Rush around the same timeline. I also attended a RUSH in GA, my line cap is 119. What's yours?
Delete@Poster 2/17 at 5:21pm
DeleteWe attended the same Rush with a line cap of 119. Have you heard anything yet? - Patiently Waiting in Ga
Have any of you heard anything yet?
DeleteUpdates anyone?
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted a rough time line of the way things happen . Anyone remember what the time line was in a nutshell?
Anyone 1/6 Rush attendees with application due on 1/28 heard anything?
ReplyDeleteI attended rush on 1/6 and nope. I have not heard a peep.
DeleteDid you RUSH in GA
DeleteRushed 1/6 APP due 1/28. Havent heard anything
DeleteGA RUSH 1/5

Still waiting.
Anticipating Notification now until 3/4 based on timeline information provided during the RUSH.
@Poster 2/17 at 5:14pm
DeleteI don't recall a 3/4 date being mentioned during the RUSH. ( I'll go back and look at my notes.) I know it was mentioned to be available between March through May. -Patiently Waiting in Ga
Any updates from Rush 1/6, application due 1/28?
DeleteNo, I haven't heard anything as of yet. I am just estimating that we should hear something by March 4th because of the timeline to be available. Regardless, I will post something as soon as I receive notification. Hopeful waiting in GA.
ReplyDeleteOk. And I will do the same. - Patiently Waiting in Ga
Delete@feb17 835pm and feb18 732am any news? One lady said she received a letter not moving on in process.
DeleteCan someone patiently waiting in MD let us know as well?
ReplyDeleteAttend rush 12/30/18 and I just interviewed this past weekend. There were about 400 women at the rush. The wait was very long but trust the process.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteWithout giving away anything, can some one give some interview tips. Thank you.

Any tips on how to prepare?
Sending prayers for you for your interview.

DeleteAre you in GA?
How do you think your interview went?
DeleteI had my interview tonight. I was nervous, but I thought I gave thoughtful and coherent responses. Couldn’t really tell what they were thinking, though. I guess I’ll find out soon enough. For now, it’s back to waiting.
ReplyDeleteHey Terrapin, are you Maryland or GA? I'm patiently waiting in MD. my rush was 1/6 though. Good Luck to you!!!!
DeleteI’m in MD, but my rush was 1/5/19. Line cap is 66.
DeleteHow long did the interview take? Not asking for specific questions but I would think it would be similar to a job interview--tell me about you, why are you interested, what do you know about the organization, what can you contribute. Is that correct?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Delete@Terrapin - the waiting is so hard... Let us know when you hear back
DeleteThe interviews were just 15 minutes. Very structured. And yes, the questions were very similar to what you’d be asked in a job interview. Good luck to everyone!
DeleteHi Terrapin, Congratulations on getting one step closer!!!! If you don't mind me asking, what does your last name start with?
Delete@Terapin - did they go in order of first name or last name?
Delete@terrapin did they tell you what the turnaround time would be? Or you just waiting in the wind?
DeleteAlso, ^^^ the interviews were not in particular order, I’m A.A. and went Friday. My friend is R.T. and went Tuesday. Im guessing it was in the order you were reviewed?
I don’t know anything about the order of the interviews. But, I think the folks who are saying it wasn’t alphabetical, are probably right.
DeleteI was too nervous to ask about the turnaround time during the interview , so I have no clue. I believe their next scheduled chapter meeting is 3/9/19. So, they could be voting then, which means it would be at least another couple of weeks before we hear anything.
They called me for an interview! -Hopeful in MD... the cap is 66 so I pray I’m one of the chosen ones!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! When is your interview?
DeleteCongratulations. You're one step closer.
DeleteWhat does your last name start with?
DeleteDid any of you attend the 1/5 RUSH in AL? Applications were due on 1/26. - Anxiously Waiting in AL
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all that have/had interviews. I had my interview and now I am waiting and praying for "the call." To those that are still waiting your time is coming. For those asking about the last name, the chapter I interviewed for went in alphabetical order by first name not last name. So it may be different for the chapter you applied to. Good Luck to all!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your interview!! Approximately how long was it?
DeleteAhhhh!! Ok. Maybe that's why I haven't received a call for an interview? The chapter I applied to may be going in alphabetical order. ~Patiently Waiting on Ga
DeleteHas anyone from Metro Atlanta been called yet? More specifically, the rush on 1/5? I know there was a RUSH in MD on 1/5 too. - Still Hopeful in GA
DeleteThe interview is about 15 mins. I am in GA and had a interview however not the 1/5 rush. Stay hopeful. The wait can be very long just for the interview. I have heard that some people have waited 4 weeks just for the interview call.
DeleteI had my interview tonight. Not sure how I did... I was so nervous. Does the interview hold the most weight over overall application? Ugh this is gonna drive me crazy waiting to see if I got picked.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you did well, and I am wishing you all the best. What state are you in?
DeleteI had my interview tonight and I think I did okay, of course I was nervous and stumble over my words. Is it still possible to get in if you had an okay interview? I know the chapter has to vote and then the regional vote.
DeleteCongratulations on getting a step closer. I did not know it goes to regional for a vote. I thought the applications goes to regional before interviews. But nevertheless, I am praying for you. I rushed 1/5 and haven't had any notifications as of yet. - Still hopeful in GA.
DeleteThank you for the prayers. This is my 4th try. You haven't received a letter or call yet. That has to be nerve wrecking. I will say a prayer for you. The rush I attended was on that same date. The applications has to go to the regional director after the chapter vote. On my second try I was granted an interview, got the chapter votes and the regional director didn't accept me. I was crushed because I was so close. This time I'm praying for a different outcome.
DeleteOMG. I'm hopeful that you make it. You have been so strong to keep at it. I didn't realize the RD would decline an applicant after the chapter vote. We were told over and over that the chapter vote is final unless there was some procedural issue with the process. Were you given any insight into why the RD said no? That had to be heartbreaking :-(
DeleteIt had to do with my letter of community service.
Delete:-( I'm praying for you and for all of us in this process. Hopefully it's our time!
DeleteMD.... 66 line cap!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how anyone doesn't psyche themselves out while waiting. Coming up on 4 weeks since the app deadline for me and nothing. No letter, no call, just nothing. Vote is coming a week from Saturday. AFAIK no one has even gotten an interview yet.
ReplyDeleteAre you also in GA? For clarification, how do you know that Vote is coming a week from Saturday? Did they mention it during the Rush?
DeleteAnyone attend a rush on 1/6 in GA receive a call yet for interview? I'm still patiently waiting, been on edge these days, lol.
ReplyDeleteI attended the 1/6 rush in GA; I haven't received a call as of yet either.
DeleteI also attended a 1/6 rush in GA. No call as of yet myself. Keep each other posted?

Still waiting in Georgia also! I'll be certain to post as soon as I hear from them. ~Anticipating good new in GA~
ReplyDeleteI had my interview on yesterday and this blog helped me in so many ways to prepare me. The wait was mighty long before I received the call for the interview and I am suspect the wait will be long in terms of me hearing if I made line or not. Wishing all of you the best this Rush Season. I really hope I get the call and not a letter.
ReplyDeleteWas your interview in Maryland (cap 66) or GA? Still waiting in Maryland :(
DeleteAny updates on call backs from MD? 1/6 RUSH? I know at least three chapters are going through this process. I just wanna make sure I’m not the only one who didn’t here back?
DeleteDo you mind indicating which area, and what date was your rush, so we all would know what or what not to expect. - Still hopeful in GA.

Not expecting calls (if at all) for another 10 days to two weeks.
Not so patiently waiting but praying for us all!
Hello, Houston, TX! I believe we attended the same rush. I am anxiously awaiting a call, as well. I was told interviews should begin around 3/9, so we may have another week or so to wait, if all goes well. The best of luck to you and everyone else in the process!
DeleteHey Houston @8:12 AM. I was told as early as 3/6. Keeping my fingers crossed for us all. There were 3 RUSH activities in the area with the same dates. Were you in the city or out in the 'burbs? I was in the city and the RUSH was at a local church.
DeleteHey, Houston @9:54!! I was at the one in the city at the church. Can you believe there were over 1,000 ladies in attendance? My friend, who is a member of the chapter, told me to arrive around 1pm, however, I arrived @ 12:30, thinking I would be ahead. Do you know there were already 60-75 ladies in front of me? I wasn't expecting so many, but, I'm glad I was able to get a seat near the front. Wow! 3/6?? Okay, well, at least we have an idea of the time frame. Like I mentioned before, my friend said 3/9, so I'm sure that it's somewhere in between. Please keep us posted on your status, as I will do the same. I'm so nervous, due to the fact that there were so many ladies! Praying for the best! Hope to meet you one day, my fellow Texan!
Delete@11:43 Hey Houston Hey!!! Lol I was the same! I got there just after 12 and there were easily 30 or 40 ladies in front of me. I'm a nervous wreck! I don't know if you've ready all the way to the end of the blog. What did you do for the N/A dilemma? Did you put it on every line including the collegiate section? Did you put it once? Not at all? It's a huge source of confusion...Just curious.
DeleteHouston @7:22, I ended up placing N/A on EVERY SINGLE LINE. (Collegiate, as well) I hadn't planned on doing it that way, but a member told me that it needed to be done that way, or they would consider it incomplete, especially since they were expecting to receive a few hundred applications. I'm so confused, because if you remember, the president didn't specifically say how to handle that area. After the member insisted that I do it, I figured it couldn't hurt. Better safe than sorry. But to be honest, I don't know how they could deny someone over that issue. It was very unclear, and it really shouldn't matter....How did you handle it?

Anxiously waiting and praying for that call.
Hi guys. This is just an update, as I am the first poster. I had my interview this past Saturday (2/23). I stumbled in the beginning but I feel like I finished strong in the end. I was so nervous, they had to tell me to breathe! My timeline was: Rush- 1/5; Deadline- 1/26; Call for interview-2/21; Interview-2/23.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm waiting to find out if I've been accepted. Good luck to everyone!-Anxiously Waiting in AL.
Thank you for the update. Sending positive thoughts your way. Im in CA still praying to get that call for an interview.
DeleteThis is for everyone who's applied for membership this year: the N/A dilemma. The application directions stated for collegiate and alumnae applicants to only complete the sections that applied to you but to put N/A or not applicable in blanks that didn't. How did you all handle that? I left the collegiate section alone and put N/A on blanks that didn't apply within the alumnae section - I'm alumnae. Some folks put N/A on every single line in the collegiate section. Others put N/A on the first collegiate line and then moved onto the alumnae section. Just curious how others handled it.
ReplyDeleteThat was the question everyone has!!!! I was told that you have to put N/A in all lines that do not apply to you, including collegiate. It's considered incomplete if you don't. I was told that by several members, but the directions are really confusing and unclear. It may also depend on how competitive the process is. Who knows what's right ? I'm interested in knowing how others handled this situation as well.
DeleteWOW! This is a great thread! I remember as I was filling out the application, the ladies who assisted me were INSISTENT on me placing N/A on EVERY SINGLE line that didn't apply to me. I am seeking graduate membership, however, they had me place N/A on EVERYTHING, even the lines in the collegiate area. Now, I have a girlfriend who went through the process a couple of years ago, and she didn't place N/A in the collegiate area. She left that entire area blank. But she was still granted an interview, and selected for membership. I almost wonder if the rules have changed for this year. I recall at the Rush I attended a few weeks ago, there was no emphasis on how to complete it. I just know when it came time to fill out everything, as I stated before, the ladies, who are members, INSISTED I place N/A, even on all collegiate area lines. This will be interesting to find out....
DeleteI applied for the Alumnae chapter, as well. I put N/A on every line that didn't apply to me. Literally. Every. Line. When I finished, I thought it was a bit overkill, but you can never be too sure.-Anxiously Waiting in AL
DeleteI am glad to hear I was not the only one who was confused. I ended up reaching out to get clarification using the contact information provided at rush. I'm alumnae also and ended up marking items in the collegiate section n/a. @Feb 25th 1033 that is exactly what felt correct to me but after I reached out I did just as @Feb 25th 1047 did. That sounded simple at first but really turned out to be confusing.
Delete@10:47AM it's driving me CRAZY!!! so you put N/A straight down the collegiate section, on every single line? I'm really worried that my entire application - which is really strong aside from the - could be disqualified just because of this. The directions were really incredibly unclear. Were you guys told this at RUSH?

DeleteWhen I applied last year, it was fine; we only had to complete the section that applied to you because it specifically says something along the lines of “only complete if you are a collegiate/alumnae applicant”. I got an interview due to the completed packet, and after speaking to friend and family that are members, they said that it’s fine.
Delete@12:13PM Thank you for answering. I'm a little worried still because I saw the application for last year and it said put N/A or leave blank. This year's app doesn't say leave blank. You still think we'll be ok?
DeleteI'm so glad I wasn't the only one completely confused. LOL! I however also put N/A on all sections, leaving nothing blank, including the Collegiate section that did not apply to me.
Delete@1:09 I checked the application for this year, and it specifically says right above the collegiate section DIRECTION: Please only fill out the appropriate section (Collegiate or alumnae) I think we’re good
Delete@12:13PM Another follow up question: when you say last year, did you do the 2017-18 application or the 2018-19 application? I'm sorry to be so specific but you know I'm going crazy over here. Can you help a sister out? Lol
Delete@4:27 I agree with you! It does say that, but it also says put N/A if it doesn't apply, and it seems that several people have been told to put N/A on every single line, including the collegiate section. I didn't put anything in that section. What did you do? I will have no hair left by the end of this process, because I will have pulled it all out! Prayers needed, yall!
DeleteThe chapter that I'm applying to had over 1500 interests at the rush, so I was told the process would be highly competitive and because of the number of packets that would be submitted, the chapter would be HIGHLY selective and discard anyone's application that had blanks or didn't follow directions. I was told that in any field, professionally or otherwise, your application is considered incomplete if you left anything blank. However, we really don't know. Some chapters may be ok with the blanks, while some have to find a way to "weed" through the massive number of applicants. At this point, all we can do is pray. Remember, WE don't know the rules or most of the selection criteria. It's so nerve wracking though. I don't know about you guys, but I need closure.
DeleteWow! 1500! What is the cap?

DeleteLOL -you are funny!
Delete@Feb25 @6:53, where are you located, if you don't mind me asking? 1,500 is quite a large number of interests!
DeleteThis was confusing
ReplyDeleteI agree it was confusing. I reached out and asked for clarification as well and was told put N/A or Not applicable in the collegiate section. When I finished it did look like over kill but I felt this was the best "to be on the safe side" option.
ReplyDelete@251pm that is exactly how I felt, I started at my application for a long time, then said a prayer and sent it off.
DeleteThe waiting for the interview call or rejection letter is killing me.
ReplyDeleteWhen and where was your rush?
DeleteI'm in CA rush 1.20 app was due 2.10. What about you
DeleteCan all of you do the rest of us a favor and let us know if you made it or not? And the state the that you made it? I will do the same. The update will at least put most of us out our misery. Thanks so much!
ReplyDelete@ everyone! I have literally been keeping my cool this whole time because I am so busy that many days I forget about it, but I am starting to get anxious also. GA Rush on 1/5 with due date of 1/26, local church, felt like there were 5,000 people there (a little hyperbole, of course lol), and I hear they have started making calls. I keep getting these weird calls, but nothing. I would think they might leave a voicemail. This process is starting to work my nerves, because I am not even sure how to plan the month of March since I just don't know. For those of you who have received calls - awesome!! You can do it! To those of you who have interviewed - praying for you, and to those of you who are still biting your nails and questioning everything on your application as I am - hang in there! Still hopeful in GA ~ though diminishing day by day.

DeleteI believe I went to the same RUSH and I have heard that some people have received calls and interviews. I answer every call whether I suspect that its one of those "robocalls" or not, and I am literally fearful even to open the mailbox. I don't think I have ever been this nervous in my life. I am praying that the explanation for my continued wait is because my last name is at the latter part of the alphabet. At this point, I am reaching for any of glimmer of hope I could find. But to be quite honest, as we near the ending of this month, I find it more difficult. -A glimmer of hope in GA.
I just completed an interview for a rush in GA last week. We were notified alphabetically by FIRST initial. It seems there is a 48 hour advance notice between the call and the interview.
Delete@ Feb 25, 2019 @ 8:16 pm - I agree with finding it increasingly difficult. I have looked over my application several times to ensure that I didn't miss anything. So I find comfort in knowing that there's not anything that I could/would have done differently to potentially obtain an interview. While I'd still love to get a call, if I don't then it just wasn't meant for me at this time. My last name is also somewhere in the middle, but I don't know the last names of any that were called so I don't really know what to think. I will say that this blog has been oh so helpful. It gives us some comfort to know others are simultaneously experiencing the same emotions. Good luck!!!
ReplyDelete@Feb 25th 9:30-Wishing you the best of luck. What state did you apply for membership?
Delete@ 2/25 9:42 PM - In Georgia on 1/5 @ church
DeleteAlso, the previous message was directed to @ 2/25 @ 9:00 PM
Hello ladies! I also attended rush on 1/5 at a local church with the application due date on 1/26. I completed my interview on 2/16. I still haven't heard anything yet. The suspense of knowing is KILLING me. Hopeful we will hear something soon...

@ Feb 26 1:49 pm - THANK YOU!!! I will be praying that your call comes soon. Yes, it would be awesome! Today, I literally had pretty much given up and shared with someone that "what's meant for me won't miss me and what misses me wasn't meant for me." So, needless to say I am hopeful once again.
